To our Back River friends, family, and community,

The last four years have been nothing short of incredible.

Owning Back River Bistro has brought more joy into our lives than we could ever put into words, and that joy has come from each and every one of you.

Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your lives. Thank you for choosing our tables for your celebrations and traditions, for date nights and family dinners, and for those casual weekday evenings when you simply decided to treat yourself. Somewhere along the way, you stopped feeling like patrons and became part of the Back River family.

Our Maine endeavor began in Portland, but eventually the road brought us home to Wiscasset. And what a home it became!

There is something truly special about owning a small business in a small Maine town. The amount of local support, community, friendship, and acceptance we have experienced here is difficult to put into words. You welcomed our family, supported our dream, and made Back River Bistro your own. That is something we will carry with us always.

Now, another opportunity is knocking.

As our family continues to grow, with our next child joining us in January, we’ve made the difficult decision to close this chapter and see what the future has in store for our family. While closing Back River is bittersweet, we are excited for what comes next and incredibly grateful for everything that brought us here.

There is so much we will miss, but more than anything, we will miss the people who made this place what it became.

We are eternally grateful for every glass of wine raised, every mushroom toast shared, all the connections made, and every story told around our tables. You gave Back River Bistro a life and a spirit far beyond anything we could have created on our own.

When we look back on these years, we won’t simply remember owning a restaurant. We will remember the people. The friendships. The familiar faces walking through the door. The laughter from the dining room. The milestones celebrated around our tables. And the little Maine town that opened its arms and made our family feel at home.

We hope you will join us before our final service on Friday, October 30.
